Students are introduced to the surgical area early in the program. Students must be able to stand for long hours and work in an atmosphere that is often charged with pressure and urgency. Knowledge of, and experience with, aseptic techniques qualify surgical technicians to prepare instruments and materials for use at the operating table and to assist in their use with skill and dexterity.
Surgical Technology graduates are eligible to take the National Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists. Credit from the program is transferable to Broward Community College towards a degree in Health Service Management.
