Game/Simulation/Animation Visual Design - 534 hours
Introduction to Video Game Design is a fun and easy course that requires no previous knowledge of programming or game design. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of video game design and provides hands-on experience using the freeware Game Maker game engine. The online course will include activity-based, integrated curriculum and game-theory reading with game building application lessons.
Introduction to Video Game Design will prepare the students for the rigor of a career in the video game design industry. The twenty-first century student is wired to technology. What better example of this than the explosive growth of the video game design industry. Students enrolling in this program must be computer literate and have a basic skills level of 10 for Math, Language, and Reading. Remediation is available to students who do not initially score at this level on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
Video Game Design Foundations provides students with a complete understanding of the technological and creative aspects of video game design in an easy–to–follow format. Simulated design teams will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of team building, including the creative, business, and technological components required to launch a new video game system. Students will participate in a simulation of a real video game design team, seeing each project from origination to actualization.
