Accounting Operations - 900 hours
The Accounting Operations program prepares students for employment as a billing and cost rate clerk, accounts receivable clerk, accounts payable clerk, payroll clerk, accounting clerk, file clerk, general office clerk, bookkeeper, or accounting assistant. It offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the bookkeeper.
The content includes double-entry accounting principles; methods of recording business transactions; preparation and analysis of various documents and financial statements; payroll records and tax forms; accounting control systems; account and transaction analysis; inventory methods; the aging process; depreciation, and the application of accounting principles to various entities.
The program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the accounting industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues. This program also prepares students for the Quickbooks Certification Exam.

Administrative Assistant - 1050 hours
The Administrative Assistant program is designed to prepare students for employment as a general office clerk, secretary, or administrative assistant.
The program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the administrative assistant. The content includes the use of computer technology to develop communications skills; higher-level thinking skills; and decision-making skills; the performance of office procedures tasks; the production of quality work in an efficient manner using intermediate features of business software applications; research of job opportunities; and the production of high-quality employment portfolios and job-seeking documents.
Included are the following major skill areas: keyboarding skills; machine transcription; oral and written communication; emerging office technology; the Internet and e-mail; math; electronic desktop publishing; and integrated office software that prepares students for MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification exams.
The program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the office support services industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues. Program length will vary based on the student’s ability and prior knowledge.
Business Supervision and Management - 900 hours
The Business Supervision and Management program is designed to prepare students for employment as a general office clerk, supervisor/manager trainee, or supervisor and to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in any of these occupations.
The program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the Supervisor. The content includes communications skills, forms of business ownership and organizational structures, supervisory/management functions and skills, business law concepts, leadership skills, business ethics, cultural diversity, insurance awareness, governmental regulations, human resources management issues, and career development. Internet exercises, PowerPoint slides, and teacher-directed e-learning activities assist students in understanding the real-world challenges of decision making in today’s business market.
This program also focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the business supervision industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underling principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, environmental issues, bookkeeping, business computer applications that prepare students for MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification exams, keyboarding skills, office technology, and employability skills. Program length may vary based upon a student’s ability and prior knowledge.
Customer Service Representative: The Art of Personal and Business Success – 600 hours
The Customer Service Representative Program prepares students for initial employment in the field of customer service and provides students with the human relations and communications skills essential for personal or business success and for leadership. After successfully completing the four-course sequence that includes Telecommunications Clerk, Telesales Representative, Customer Service Representative, and Customer Service Manager, the student will be proficient in demonstrating the following knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for success: (1) Technology literacy & related software; (2) Communications, human relations & telephone skills; (3) Selling techniques; and (4) Supervisory, problem solving & critical thinking skills.
In this course students will learn how successful companies and leaders have prospered by incorporating quality customer service into their businesses. Students gain knowledge about real businesses, such as the Disney Corporation, Starbucks, Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Nordstrom Department Stores, and Zappos.com. In an insightful and entertaining way, students learn effective, practical, and common sense leadership strategies utilized by acclaimed corporate executives and how to become a better leader by infusing quality customer service each day.
Students develop character, enthusiasm, and acquire a customer service mindset that will positively impact success in life. Essentially, students come to realize that superior customer service makes the difference between success and failure.
Legal Administrative Specialist - 1050 hours
The Legal Administrative Specialist program is designed to prepare students for employment as a general office clerk, clerical support staff, administrative support staff, or legal secretary and to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in any of these occupations.
The program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the Legal Administrative Specialist. The content includes various software including Microsoft Office which prepares students for MOS certification exams; WordPerfect; the use of technology to develop communications skills; higher-level thinking and decision-making skills; legal terminology; the performance of office procedures specific to the legal environment; transcription of legal documents from machine dictation; the production of quality work in an efficient manner using advanced features of business software applications, the Internet and e-mail, research of job opportunities; and the production of high-quality employment portfolios and job- seeking documents.
The program includes legal aspects of business legal papers; and correspondence including pleadings, contracts, wills as well as a variety of other forms.
Marketing and Business Ownership – 600 hours
The Marketing and Business Ownership Program prepares students for employment in Marketing occupations and/or to open a face-to-face or internet-based business. After successfully completing the three-course sequence that comprise the program which includes Sales Person, Retail, Marketing Managers, and Business Ownership/General Manager, the student will be proficient in demonstrating the following knowledge, skills and abilities: (1) Technology literacy and related software applications; (2) Entrepreneurship; (3) Applications of distribution, merchandising, financing, product & service planning, pricing, selling, purchasing, advertising & sales promotion, and safety/risk management; (4) problem solving & critical thinking skills; (5) Money management; (6) Economic principals; (7) Global business trends; (7) Effective communication; and (8) Human relations skills necessary for success in the field.
Students who complete the Marketing and Business Ownership Program are prepared to secure a job in the following areas: retail and wholesale sales & management; warehousing & distribution, purchasing/buying, advertising, mass media, social media & public relations, banking, and hospitality & tourism. In addition, students learn about entrepreneurship as a career path worthy of consideration. They are given the skills needed to realistically evaluate their potential as a business owner, and develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate a business. The planning and operation of a simulated business are an important part of the instruction of this course.
