Accounting Operations Training Program - 900 hours:

The Accounting Operations program prepares students for employment in the following areas: 

• Billing and cost rate clerk
• Accounts receivable clerk
• Accounts payable clerk
• Payroll clerk
• Information Technology Assistant
• File clerk
• Accounting clerk
• Bookkeeper
• Accounting associate
• Accounting assistant

Accounting Operations offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the bookkeeper.

The course content in Accounting Operations includes double-entry accounting principles; methods of recording business transactions; preparation and analysis of various documents and financial statements; payroll records and tax forms; accounting control systems; account and transaction analysis; inventory methods; the aging process; depreciation, and the application of accounting principles to various entities.

The training for Accounting Operations focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the accounting industry:

• Planning
• Management
• Finance
• Technical and production skills
• Underlying principles of technology
• Labor issues
• Community issues

The Accounting Operations program also prepares students for the Quickbooks Certification Exam. Laboratory activities include the use of keyboarding systems, calculators, computers, spreadsheet (MS Excel) and accounting (Quickbooks) software, and peripheral equipment.

This program consists of fully online instruction.
