About the Program

Sheridan Technical Center

What Is MCAP?
The College Automotive Program (MCAP) is a nationwide effort to train and employ the industry's best automotive technicians.

CAP Is A Superior Automotive Education
Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge believe in the value of trained technicians.  We have worked closely with colleges to design a relevant curriculum.  Upon completion of the program, students may opt to earn an Associate's degree in Automotive Service Technology (or similar).

MCAP Is Paid On-the-job Training
MCAP provides valuable internship experience.  Along with classroom instruction, MCAP offers on-site training at sponsoring dealerships under the direction of a mentor technician.  Students rotate class time and internship until fulfilling the requirements of an associate's degree.

MCAP Student Schedule
Students must attend Sheridan Technical Center twenty hours a week (12:30 PM to 5:30 PM) in eight week blocks.  During this time students also may choose to attend an academic class one night a week at Broward College.  Students usually work twenty-five hours a week at their MCAP dealership during the class term.  Students who need college prep courses will be required to attend class an additional night a week until completed.  The following eight weeks students will work at their MCAP dealership for about forty hours a week, usually under the supervision of a Master Technician.  The student is responsible for documenting this work experience as part of the program.
