Automotive Service Technology

Sheridan Technical Center

 

Automotive Service Technology - 1800 hours: (Also Available online!)

Estimated Cost:  $5,943 (finacial aid available to those who qualify)

No high school diploma or GED is required for entry into this program.

Salary - approximately $10-$17 per hour (enrty level)

The Automotive Service Technology program prepares students for employment as automotive technicians by providing them with state-of-the-art automotive service repair techniques. Technical training is provided in the classroom and in the lab on both foreign and domestic vehicles.
Included in this NATEF Certified Program are the following ASE Certification subjects:

• Electrical Systems
• Engine Theory and Repair
• Engine Performance
• Manual Drivelines and Axles
• Automatic Transmissions,
• Brake Systems
• Heating and Air Conditioning
• Steering/Suspension Systems

Introduction and routine maintenance subjects are also included.

This competency-based Automotive Service Technology program combines theory and real-life working conditions to provide an effective beginning for students who wish to become certified automotive service technicians. Graduates typically find employment as apprentices or beginning technicians in automotive dealerships and independent repair shops.

A typical schedule of courses for daytime is as follows:

Day Automotive Service Technology 
                      Full Time                   

HOURS           6 hours per day          

WHEN            5 days per week         

HOW LONG   30 hours per week - 1 year, 5 months              
approx. 1800 total hours

Monday through Friday   7am to 1:45pm  full time 
                                            7am to 10:00am part time
